In August the
refurbishing committee consisting of Frank Mikeska, Jim Geary,
and George Grut met with the zoning board and explained
what the club wanted to do. Also present was Larry Ott,
Harold Baker and several other friends from the Knights of
Columbus. The zoning board gave its approval to redo the sign
but we had to follow the strict guidelines. Refurbishing
of the old sign
will be completed in a few weeks.
Jimmy Newman who
volunteered to do the work, removed the old sign several weeks
ago and has been working on the cleaning, grinding the framing for the sign as well as
doing the painting. Jimmy, a retired boiler maker, also has been
doing the necessary welding.
A new LED board
will display upcoming events
at the Hall instead of hanging banners. as we now do for
Fish fries and other events. The sign is programmable and we can
program up to 100 events into the board. By constructing and
refurbishing the sign instead of purchasing a new one, several
thousand dollars has been saved.
Joey from Bottom Sign Company of
New Albany is doing the lettering of the sign met with Board Members at the Pitch - in Dinner and
several ideas were kicked around. Many ideas were presented
and incorporated into the sign. The members wanted to
bring the Knights of Columbus logo as well as the Fourth degree
logo colors together with the wording and was able to
accomplishment this by the coordination of the overall design. |
