To My Brother Knights

My Final Reflection Message to the Knights
From Father Ken Gering

January 2010

I have reflected and prayed for some time about my retirement as chaplain from the Pope John Paul II council.  I know that in general I have been a better listener than talker. During the many years that I have been a chaplain, I have been inspired by the knowledge, developments, and accomplishments that the Council has made. I will miss these interactions.  My one disappointment is to realize that very much was accomplished by a relatively few active members.  It would be a real blessing to the council if many more paying and yet presently inactive members, participated in the life and the spirit of the council.

I am still a chaplain at Mercy Providence Home.  I presently offer mass seven days a week at the home. I do very little ordinary patient room visiting, but I do visit hospitals four or five days a week and also funeral homes for deceased residents.

I am still the chaplain for the legion of Mary. I work in the archives of the Franciscan Province here at the Mount when I have time.  Usually, I’m able to get a nap in each day.   Again, many thanks for having me as your chaplain.  I pray that your council is blessed in everyway. I continue to pray for the canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney
